What exactly is Random Shitty Ideas?

Random Shitty Ideas is a project where we take one absurd, questionable, or downright terrible idea each month and actually build it into a functioning prototype. It's part art project, part engineering challenge, and entirely ridiculous.

Can I really submit my own terrible idea?

Absolutely! We encourage users to submit their most absurd ideas. The worse, the better (within reason). Just head to our Suggest page and fill out the form. If we select your idea, you'll be credited when we feature it.

How do you choose which ideas to build?

Our selection process involves a complex algorithm of 'that made us laugh out loud' combined with 'we think we could actually build this.' We look for ideas that are simultaneously terrible yet genius, absurd yet feasible.

Do you actually build these projects?

Yes, we really do! Each featured idea gets turned into a real, functioning prototype. We document the building process and share the results, including any hilarious failures along the way.

Can I use one of your terrible ideas for my own project?

We're flattered you'd want to! All of our featured ideas are shared under a Creative Commons license, which means you're free to use them for non-commercial purposes as long as you credit Random Shitty Ideas as the source.

I have a terrible idea that might actually be brilliant. Should I submit it here?

The line between terrible and brilliant is often blurry! Many great innovations started as ideas others thought were ridiculous. If you're genuinely unsure if your idea is good or bad, that might be exactly the kind of idea we're looking for.

How can I stay updated on new terrible ideas?

You can subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of the page, or follow us on social media. We announce each new terrible idea at the beginning of the month.

Can I support this project financially?

While we don't currently have a formal support system, we're considering options for the future. For now, the best way to support us is by sharing our projects, submitting your ideas, and spreading the joy of terrible innovation.

Still have questions?

We might have answers. Or we might make something up. Either way, it'll be interesting.
